Best Buy

I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of design projects in my time on the Brand Identity Team at Best Buy from crafting various style guides, thinking about design's role in larger systems like value signage and the customer journey, and how we could continue to evolve and add richness to the Best Buy brand.

One of the larger projects I was involved on was establishing a program and process for updating and maintaining the graphics in the windows of Best Buy's flagship stores in NYC and Chicago as well as doing various custom environmental graphics. Not pictured is all of the dirty work like traveling to take measurements, deck upon deck communicating our plan and documenting the ins and outs of each store.

Best Buy is very involved in giving back to the communities in which it has stores. One such initiative was the introduction of their Teen Tech Centers in various cities across the country, including Minneapolis. I was responsible for concepting and developing the branding for the effort as well as helping brand each space with wall graphics, vinyl installations and collaborating with the store design teams on interior design considerations.

The Environmental Services & Sustainability Team at Best Buy was in need of some wrangling and refreshing of their identity. As the designer on the project, I provided them with an identity that stayed true to the larger Best Buy brand, but gave them enough consistent visual assets that they were able to market Best Buy's sustainability efforts. Below are a few of the pieces I created, including the style guide.

Best Buy's Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability team publishes a hefty annual report that outlines the company's efforts and commitments in certain areas like diversity, the environment and financials. As the designer on the project I was able to help synthesize the content from the client and collaborate with them to develop a digestible interactive report. We also developed a summary of the larger report that took the form of a folded brochure but largely looked the same visually. Below are a few select spreads and the report summary.
